Alright, now for the big question! Everyone who has played Pokemon Scarlet and Violet knows the performance is not its greatest feature. Random FPS drops while traveling around Paldea may leave a bad taste in some players’ mouths, and rightfully so. These performance issues could be fixed with a patch, but the question remains: when will Pokemon Scarlet and Violet be patched? Let’s find out!
UPDATE 12/1/2022: Nintendo has announced that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is receiving a patch on 12/1/2022. It is not confirmed if this patch is increasing performance, however we will have to wait and see!
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Performance Issues Patch Details
Now of course, no one can know for certain when Game Freak will update Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. However, we can use the past to get an idea of when a patch might come. Let’s look at Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
The first update to Pokemon Legends: Arceus was a little over a week after the game released. While that game didn’t have performance issues like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it did have a few glitches and bugs that were patched out.
Knowing it took Game Freak over a week to get the first patch out, players can expect to see an update within the same time frame.
However, it is not guaranteed that any updates will fix the performance issues present. Players just have to hope and pray that Game Freak addresses them somehow…
How to Fix Pokemon Scarlet Performance Issues
While nothing significant can be done to remove the FPS drops in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there is one technique that some players can use.
Some players report having random memory leaks in the game, causing occasional FPS drops. Allegedly, this can be fixed by restarting your game. Of course, this is all just hearsay, however it’s definitely worth a shot if you are frustrated with the frame-rate!
Another thing you can do is to make as much noise about these issues as possible. Doing so may make it a high priority for Game Freak to fix.
