Best Things to Use Legendary Shards on in Destiny 2

Season 23 will permanently do away with Legendary Shards. That means that now is your last chance to get some use out of those little purple fragments.

And no, there’s no reason to stockpile them. They won’t be converted to a new resource in the new season, so it’s better to spend them than hoard them. To that end, here’s the tier list for what to spend Legendary Shards on in Destiny 2.

  1. Ascendant Alloy

Each week, you can spend 400 Legendary Shards on one Ascendant Alloy. These can be purchased from Master Rahool, the Cryptarch, at the Tower. He’s the blue Awoken you decrypt your engrams at.

To find the Ascendant Alloy, speak to Rahool, then click ‘Services’ at the top. This will lead to the Material Exchange menu. Ascendant Alloy can be found at the bottom of the screen.

  • Enhancement Cores

Likewise, you can spend 30 Legendary Shards to get Enhancement Cores. These can also be purchased from Master Rahool, the Cryptarch, at the Tower. Just speak to him, then select ‘Services’ from his menu. Enhancement Cores will be listed at the bottom of the menu.

  • Raid Banners

It’s always a good idea to go into a boss fight with your Supers primed and with Heavy ammo to spare. Raid Banners are a great option if you’re already drowning in Enhancement Cores and Ascendant Alloys.

Raid Banners can be purchased from Suraya Hawthorne in the Tower, near Ikora. Raid Banners will run you 30 Legendary Shards.

  • Glimmer

If you’re running low on cash, you can trade 10 Legendary Shards for 10,000 Glimmer at Master Rahool. Master Rahool can be found in the Tower. To exchange Legendary Shards for Glimmer, speak to Master Rahool. Then, select ‘Services’ to be brought to his Material Exchange menu, where you can purchase Glimmer.

If you hit the limit of 250,000 Glimmer, you can then go to the Lectern of Enchantment on the Moon. There, you can purchase Phantasmal Fragments for 10 Legendary Shards. You can stockpile Phantasmal Fragments and then exchange 10 of them at Master Rahool for 10,000 Glimmer whenever you like.
