What is the Best Sniper in COD MW2 Season 2?

Speed is key.

Sniper rifles are one of the staples of Call of Duty, and depending on the year, the weapons have been a point of frustration or praise for the player base. In Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, snipers still have a ton of potential, and using the best ones can carry a game in the right hands.

As always, a new season in COD MW2 means some weapon tuning for nearly every class in the game, sniper rifles included. At least one popular sniper was hit fairly hard with nerfs, but will that change the meta? We’ll cover that in our best sniper guide for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2.

COD MW2 Season 2 – What is the Best Sniper?

In the current state of the game, the SP-X 80 is the best option for any of you sharp shooters out there. The SP-X 80 has one of the best ADS speeds in the class, and the one-shot kill hitbox is large enough for consistent kills. You’ll notice that most players in the CDL or in Ranked Play will run this option in MW2.

Another close contender is the MCPR-300. This was one of the most used snipers in competitive settings before players went back to the SP-X. It has a far more consistent one-shot kill, but the standard scope is bad and the sniper is simply too slow in comparison to the other picks in the class.

If you want to try the SP-X 80 out for yourself, in Ranked Play or in casuals, then focus on building the weapon with pure ADS speed attachments. You won’t need more than four and you can even skip the barrel slot if you’d like some extra range. Your scope will feel snappier than ever and enemies will fall quickly.
