Vex Offensive Destiny 2 Guide: How to Access & What Is It?

If you've been wondering about how to take the fight to the Vex, check out our Vex Offensive Destiny 2 guide for the lowdown on this new co-op resistance effort.

We’ve all known that the Vex were going to make a return after the first promo materials for Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, so the Vex Offensive being launched as what’s essentially an in-game event is no surprise. However, very little was actually known about this until its implementation yesterday. Check out our Vex Offensive Destiny 2 guide on how to access this co-op mode and to find out what it actually is.

Vex Offensive Destiny 2 Guide: How to Access This Co-Op Mode

For the uninitiated, the Vex Offensive is a new game mode in Destiny 2 where you, well, kill Vex. It’s a co-op mode, which means that you can get together with your mates to do this, and up to 6 players can participate in a match at a time. If you’ve got the season pass for the Season of the Undying, then you’re going to be able to access this.

To kick proceedings off, you’re going to have to head to the Moon where you’ll notice a blue icon on the map that you can click. This will bring up the option to launch the Vex Offensive, and the game recommends that you should have a power level of at least 750 to take things on. There will also be weekly challenges as part of the Vex Offensive: we note that this first one involves defeating Vex in this game mode to earn points, which will result in you being awarded Tier 2 Powerful gear.

However, don’t get ahead of yourself here. To actually take part in the Vex Offensive, you’re going to have to have completed the quest Eyes On The Moon, which is accessible once you pick up a quest called Vex Invasion from Ikora Rey. We have a separate guide about that available in our guides hub, so check that out if you’re having trouble finishing it. Once you’ve turned Eyes On The Moon in to Eris Morn, you’ll be able to access the Vex Offensive.

Vex Offensive Destiny 2 Guide: What Is The Vex Offensive?

Now that you’ve acquired the ability to crack into the Vex Offensive, what will you actually be doing? Well, you’ll be queuing into the Black Garden either solo or with some mates, where your end goal is to predictably kill the Vex. You’ll be doing this by tramping through the Garden, and then eventually facing off against an enemy called the Crotheon Gatekeeper.

The perk of doing the Vex Offensive is the fact that you’re going to get some gear and Vex armor dropping. A less obvious perk is completing the weekly challenge of killing enemies in the Vex Offensive, which will lead to Tier 2 gear eventually. You can also complete Vex Offensive bounties courtesy of Ikora by playing this game mode, which will give you not only EXP but also Vex Mind Components which we’ve covered off previously in a guide. Bungie has earmarked a date of November 19 for something called the Final Assault related to the Vex Offensive Destiny 2 mode, so when we find out what that is, we’ll be sure to update this guide.

In the meantime, if you need a hand with picking up the Divinity Exotic weapon, check out our quest walkthrough of Divine Fragmentation.
