Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Save File Location on PC

What's up with Steam Cloud though?

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is another great remake collection from Activision, this time developed by Iron Galaxy Studios. It may not have everything from the original games, but the new maps, improved visuals, and quality-of-life additions more than make up for it.

The PC version is in great shape, and although this game also has a constant internet connection requirement, the consistent performance, support for modern upscalers, and customizability are great. That said, if you want to access your local progress on PC, here is the save file location for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Save File Location

ClientSave File Location
SteamC:/Users/[Windows Username]/AppData/Local/IronGalaxy/THPS/Saved/SaveGames
Steam Deck (Linux)/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2545710/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/IronGalaxy/THPS/Saved/SaveGames/

All your saved data is stored in the locations above, and if you want to move it around for future use, I recommend backing up the entire THPS folder. If you need the save file specifically, it’s called ChicagoSaveSlot.sav, and it’s in the SaveGames folder.

One thing to keep in mind is that the first collection uses the same folder name, but it’s stored in the VicariousVisions folder instead of IronGalaxy. Keep this in mind when you want to move around the files.

You can reach the location above on Windows by entering the following address in Explorer or Windows Run:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\IronGalaxy\THPS\Saved\SaveGames\

How to Replace Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Save Files on Steam Deck

For some reason, Steam Cloud doesn’t work consistently between PC and the Steam Deck. If you’re running into this bug and need to transfer progress between the two devices, here is how you can easily do that. I recommend grabbing a Type-C USB flash drive for this.

  • On your PC, head over to the following location:
C:/Users/[Windows Username]/AppData/Local/IronGalaxy/THPS/Saved/SaveGames
  • Here, copy the ChicagoSaveSlot.sav file.
  • Now, move this save file to your Steam Deck in the following location using the Dolphin file browser:
/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2545710/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/IronGalaxy/THPS/Saved/SaveGames/

Similarly, when you want to move the save file back to your PC, copy the ChicagoSaveSlot.sav file back to the regular Steam save file location for the game on PC. This is a tedious method, but it’s still viable, and hopefully shouldn’t be necessary with the fix applied.

Does Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Have Cloud Saves?

Yes, the new collection has Steam Cloud support for cloud saves, though it isn’t working perfectly with Steam Deck in its current state.

Overall, there are a few kinks to sort out when it comes to the cloud saves of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, but these are easily accessible on PC and aren’t tied to some online account.
