The Long Goodbye Destiny 2 Guide: How to Get This Sniper Rifle

First, let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way. It’s not as simple as completing an opportune quest chain. The only way that discerning Guardians can earn The Long Goodbye is by throwing themselves repeatedly at the Insight Terminus Nightfall strike. Since Nightfalls are on rotation, you’re essentially going to have to bide your time and wait til it’s available for you to access before you can start your weapon grind. If you want a guide to what other drops can be gleaned from the various Nightfall strikes, then we have a guide for that too

The basic principle with these Nightfall strikes is that whether or not you have a chance at the best loot later is all performance dependant. You’re not guaranteed to have The Long Goodbye drop at all, but if you absolutely slay it in the strike then you’ll have a higher chance at earning it; not hitting the 100,000 score threshold reduces your chance of getting Nightfall-specific rewards like that weapon in all circumstances. Our only advice is really to just buckle up and get ready to run Insight Terminus as many times as possible until your luck turns. Remember: it’s not necessarily about how many instances you can cram into a session, but how well you do in each one. It’s more valuable to perform well.

Now that you’ve got our The Long Goodbye Destiny 2 guide in hand, and you know which Nightfall strike to focus your efforts on, it’s just a matter of time until you’re successful in obtaining this weapon. If you think that you’re itching to finish off your existing arms collection, then we recommend checking out our Destiny 2 Pinnacle weapons guide for an exhaustive list of what can be obtained before the season ends.
