World 1-1

The first Purple Coin in this level can be found right past the first Goomba. You should spot it hanging the air over a green pipe. Use the Goomba to jump higher and grab it.

The second Purple Coin is found a bit further into the level. Continue forward until you reach the first Pause Block. Survey the area and take note of the five solid blocks and the three Question Blocks in front of you. You need to bounce off the solid blocks and onto the Question Blocks if you want to reach the Purple Coin beyond.

Continue through the level, and stick to the low area. The next Purple Coin can be found just a bit down a pit that leads to Mario’s death. Just run forward and slide down the wall to grab it. Make sure to jump right after you hear it ding, though, or you might not make it back up.

To find the fourth Purple Coin, keep moving and stop at the next Pause Block you come to. Make sure to jump up and land on it, or you might miss this coin. You should spot the Purple Coin resting on the other side of a Question Block high in the air. There are two ways to get this coin. Either jump onto the Question Block and let Mario simply vault over and grab it, or try to jump high enough to grab it before you reach the end of the platform.

The final Purple Coin in this level can be found just after the next set of Goombas. Jump to the highest platform with two Goombas, and tap the solid block here with Mario’s head. This will pop out the fifth Purple Coin, completing this set of Challenge Coins. Now you just need to make it to the end of the level to claim them all.

World 1-2

The first Purple Coin can be found just after grabbing the mushroom near the start of the level. Wall jump up the area with all the coins, and then jump into the Question block at the top to claim the first purple Coin.

To find the second Purple Coin, make your way through the level through the first pipe, jump over the piranha plants, and then start wall jumping up the shaft with the jump booster below it. Don’t jump into the alcove with the Goombas, though. Instead, jump past it by timing your wall jumps. The coin can be grabbed from a group of coins up top, on a line of several solid blocks.

Head through the second pipe and into the third area of the level. Slide down the long hill with the Goombas, but don’t jump. Instead, ride the incline down to the bottom area, and hop over the first green pipe. There’s a Purple Coin just ahead, but you’ll have to time your jump just right to grab it when the Piranha Plant guarding it is hidden inside its pipe.

Pass through the third pipe and into the fourth area of the level. Jump up the shaft with the double set of springboards at the bottom, and then let Mario slide down the hill for a moment before jumping up the first shaft with wall jumps. The fourth purple coin can be nabbed from the air at the top of the area. You can’t miss its location.

The final Purple Coin in this level can be found in the fifth section of the map. Head through the fourth pipe and continue on, ignoring the beautifully filled shaft with all the coins. While they are tempting, the much bigger prize is hidden away, down the lower path, with the two Goombas. After passing by the two Goombas, jump onto the higher section of this path and grab all the coins and the final Purple Coin. Now all that’s left to do is make it to the next level without dying.

World 1-3

Head forward from the start and grab the mushroom a level up. Follow the coin arrow down to the bottom level again. Run forward and grab the Purple Coin before jumping up onto the next platform.

The second Purple Coin can be grabbed a bit further into the level. After you pass over the section of solid ground, and back out onto the platforms, keep an eye out for two booster blocks. If you tap the screen while on these, Mario will shoot forward, grabbing a Purple Coin from out of the air.

The third Purple Coin can be found in the far left Question block just after the special Red Ring in the level. The best way to grab it is to drop down onto the platforms beneath the Red Ring and then jump back up beneath the blocks so you can easily tap them.

Keep moving and look out for this next Purple Coin near the top of the level just after the next booster blocks and a large swath of coins floating in the air. Jump atop the two Question blocks nearby, then hop into the air and grab the Purple Coin.

The fifth Purple Coin in World 1-3 is found in the middle of four other coins a little further into the level. Follow the platforms until you spot the coins lined up in a line on a red mushroom platform. Grab it and then jump away to continue. That completes this level’s Purple Challenge Coins. Continue to the next level to find more!

World 1-4

The first Purple Coin in Bowser’s Castle Hangout can be nabbed by hopping onto the first set of backward blocks. These will propel Mario backward, allowing you to nab it.

Stick to the high ground and continue forward. You’ll have to use one of the Dry Bones in the area to jump high enough to grab the next Purple Coin, which can be found hanging midair, just after a Question block along the top part of the level.

The third Purple Coin is guarded by several Lava Bubbles, which shoot into the sky. You should spot it just beyond a Pause block. Wait for the Lava bubbles to fall away, and then run forward and jump up to grab this coin.

To find the fourth Purple Coin, continue through the level and take the high road by using the backward blocks to reach the handholds on the roof. This will allow you to drop onto a platform with the fourth coin.

The final Purple Coin in the first boss level can be nabbed by following a coin arrow up to a platform that you can reach by jumping. Grab the coin, and then finish out the level to continue.

World 2-1

Finding Purple Coins in the game’s first ghost level can be tough. The first Purple Coin in this level can only be obtained by walking over it. Look for the outline above the middle blocks, where the Boo keeps appearing (the upside down one), and walk over it to spawn it. Then grab it and head to the next area using the special doors.

The second Purple Coin can be nabbed after you activate it. To activate it, use the springboards and jump up to the next level in the second room. It is the top coin outline in the second stack, above the springboard beside the second green door.

The third Purple Coin can also be nabbed in that second room. Take note of the two blocks on the top right-hand side of the level. Hitting the far right one will reward you with the third Purple Coin.

The fourth Purple Coin in this level is the far rightmost coin in the middle of the next area. Take note of the lower set of handholds and the Boo that runs across them. If you jump onto the handholds and climb over them, Mario’s dangling feet will hit the outlines of the coins, spawning them in. This can only happen when you are big Mario. Once the coins have spawned in, climb over them once more to claim them. Now finish out the level to move on.

To find the fifth Purple Coin, simply look up and take note of the handholds running along the ceiling. Jumping onto these will allow you to climb across them and claim the last Purple Coin in this level. Now, head out the correct green door and finish out the level to complete the challenge.

World 2-2

The first Purple Coin in this level can be nabbed by sticking to the second moving platform until just the right moment. Once it starts to drop, jump and kick off the Bullet Bill flying past you to collect the coin while propelling upwards towards the next platform you need to hit.

You can grab the second Purple Coin by looking out for a set of three blocks. Two of the blocks are Question Mark blocks, and the final one is a solid block that holds the second Purple Coin inside.

The third Purple Coin can be found hanging in mid-air, at the end of a set of yellow coins. Use a nearby Bullet Bill to propel yourself up to it so you can grab it.

Grabbing the fourth Purple Coin in this level might be difficult for some players, as it is situated in an odd place, above several platforms that move beneath the clouds. Hop onto the first platform before the coin and then wait for it to rise up. If you time your jump just right, you can easily nab it by using Mario’s signature spiral twist in mid-air.

To find the fifth Purple Coin, continue through the level until you reach a spot with several rotating platforms. Take note of a group of coins hanging down beneath you. Drop off the first moving platform when it reaches the top right corner of its revolution, and then land on another platform below to nab this coin.

World 2-3

Underground once more, you’ll now have to contend with several Swoops in this level. The first Purple Coin is just up from the starting point, hidden in a small alcove before you use the first pipe.

In the second area, look out for this Purple Coin in between two Swoops. Jump on their heads to be able to propel yourself up to it.

The third Purple Coin in this level is found just before the third pipe. You’ll have to wall jump upwards if you want to successfully grab it.

To grab the fourth Purple Coin, continue through the next pipe and look out for a shaft with a ton of coins at the top. If you climb up it using wall jumps, you’ll be able to access a higher platform that has this Purple Coin hidden near it.

The final Purple Coin in this level is the hardest to get. In order to grab it, you will need to bounce off the heads of the Swoops underneath, allowing you to jump high enough to grab it. Be careful when making your jumps, as messing up your timing will ruin the jump and cause you to miss the coin, forcing you to restart. Once you have the coin, continue forward to the end of the level and finish it out to bring it to a close.

World 2-4

The first Purple Coin in World 2-4 is found right after getting your first mushroom. Use the cannonballs as a springboard to jump higher into the air and grab it.

The next Purple Coin can be found just after the first set of downward facing cannons. You’ll need to use one of the cannonballs to jump high enough to grab it from its position in mid-air.

Look out for the third Purple Coin hanging about an enemy on a high platform just beyond the next set of cannons. If you take the low road you’ll miss it, so be careful.

After continuing for a moment, you’ll spot another platform with an airship above it. Look out for the next Purple Coin to appear close by. Be sure to use the cannonballs to stay in the air long and high enough to grab it.

To find the final Purple Coin in the game, move past the triple set of cannons facing towards the starting point, and look out for the next Purple Coin to appear in mid-air, above a jumping enemy. It’s a tough one to grab, so be sure to time your jumps just right to be able to propel you high enough to grab it. Make sure you hit it, because entering the final airship and facing off against Bowser will force you to reset and re-obtain every coin again.
