Street Fighter 6 Season 3 Perfect Parry Guide

Hit the lab.

Season 3 of Street Fighter 6 is finally here, and Elena has joined the roster. The new season isn’t just about introducing Elena, as CAPCOM has also rebalanced the entire roster and some base mechanics. One of the biggest changes is how perfect parries are performed.

Previously, perfect parries were executed with a single button, but many high-level players argued it was too easy to pull off and offered too much reward. CAPCOM has addressed this by increasing the execution requirement, and here’s how you can perform a perfect parry in Street Fighter 6 after this major update.

How to Perfect Parry in Street Fighter 6 After Season 3 Update

To perform a perfect parry in Street Fighter 6, you now need to block and input Drive Parry the exact moment your opponent’s attack hits.

  • So, if an incoming attack is high or overhead, you need to hold a standing block (←) and then hit the drive parry button (usually mapped to L2/LT), or MP + MK as soon as the attack connects.
  • Similarly, if the incoming attack is low, then you need to hold down-back (↙), and then hit the drive parry button (usually mapped to L2/LT), or MP + MK as soon as the attack connects.

Think of this new perfect parry as an extension of the block, rather than an individual input like it was before. This adds another layer of execution requirement, which further balances the neutral game.

CAPCOM has confirmed that the way perfect parries react to projectiles is untouched, so you can perfect parry those without the need for holding block.

If you want even more details about the perfect parry, you can visit the updated guide for it in the Street Fighter 6 tutorial section.

This is an advanced skill, and the tutorial entry has been updated on June 5, 2025.

Overall, I think this is a great change, and one that encourages players to be more conscious about their reactions, and players who aren’t used to reacting to a perfect parry can enjoy some much-needed breathing room.

A perfect parry might have been a bit difficult to pull off before, but it was fairly manageable for moderately skilled players; now it’s something you have to master.

When you’re done mastering the new perfect parry in Street Fighter 6, make sure to check out all the excellent outfits introduced in the new season.
