Here is a breakdown of the requirements and what you’ll need for a decent experience.

StarRupture System Requirements

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (8 GB VRAM)
Radeon RX 7600 (8 GB VRAM)
DirectX 12Version 12Version 12
Storage45 GB SSD45 GB SSD

The requirements don’t provide the target resolution or framerate, but it’s safe to assume that the recommended specifications are for the generic 1080p/60 FPS target. To get a decent experience, you’ll need an RTX 3060 with 8 GB of VRAM paired with a Ryzen 5 3600, both of which are popular hardware components even today.

On the lower side, you can still play StarRupture on a GTX 1060 paired with a Ryzen 5 2600. If I had to guess, this would be on the lower side in terms of internal resolution and graphical preset. For launch, you need 45 GB of SSD storage to install StarRupture. 16 GB of RAM is recommended regardless of your settings.

The developers have previously hosted playtests, which should’ve given players a rough idea of what to expect, though I’m hopeful that performance in the early access launch build is even better.

StarRupture Release Date

StarRupture is launching in early access on Steam on January 6, 2026. The developers have confirmed on Steam that they plan to keep it in early access for at least a year.

Pricing will not increase during the early access period, but it will go up slightly after 1.0 is out. Finally, it’s important to remember that this is an early access title, so performance might improve over time, and the system requirements can increase or decrease depending on development as well. It’s a good idea to provide valuable feedback during this period so the developers can improve the title.
