Starfield: The Great Laredo Caper Quest Walkthrough

Can you solve this caper?

With so many fantastic side quests in Akila City, the chance to solve a mystery and uncover a thief stealing weapons is a fun distraction from the big-time bank robbery days of old. Here is how to complete The Great Laredo Caper in Starfield.

How to Start The Great Laredo Caper

If you stumble across Laredo Firearms in Akila City, you’ll overhear some troubling concerns the vendors indoors have regarding lost merchandise. We’re talking about weapons and ammunition, not food and drink items. But a brisk walk outside confirms your suspicions as you stumble upon Annie Wilcox, a Ranger Surveillance Assistant, who witnessed a shady character sneaking around the area late one night. It’s up to you to help catch the culprit.

Confront the Thief Suspect
Report Back to Annie Wilcox

When you first speak to Annie, she doesn’t trust you. She’s wary of any strangers in Akila City and always keeps her eyes on what’s happening there. If you convince her you’re here to help, even though you’ve likely become the hero of GalBank by now, she’ll explain what’s going on late at night.

Annie suspects the thief is infiltrating Laredo Firearms around midnight each night, so you must wait. I couldn’t find a dang chair for the life of me to kill some time, so I had to travel down the road somewhat to The Hitching Post on the corner near GalBank. I waited until approximately 11:30, then walked down to the Laredo Shooting Range. When I arrived, I caught the thief red-handed, as you should.

He doesn’t put up a fight, thankfully. He resigns almost immediately, knowing he’s caught. But oddly enough, in my game, he called security on himself. It was strange, and I thought he was going to try to frame me for the crime. He didn’t. He just surrendered. Odd.

With the thief in custody, you must then return to Annie Wilcox. She’s waiting for word at The Rock, in the center of town, and is excited to hear that her surveillance genuinely worked for once. Her mother is rather surprised, too, and she’ll give you a small reward for your help.

For completing The Great Laredo Caper in Akila City, you will receive the following rewards:

  • 50 XP
  • Credits (Leveled)

It’s not much overall, especially for a handwritten quest, but it’s simple and to the point. You can finish the quest in under 20 minutes, give or take, and it’s easy experience points. At level 32, I received approximately 4400 credits.

If you enjoyed this side quest in Akila City, we recommend checking out Defensive Measures. It’s the start of a three-part quest that has you dealing with the local Ashta threat to the city!
