Should You Use Precision Rifles or Sniper Rifles in Cyberpunk 2077? – Answered

The age old debate.

There are a lot of weapon types in Cyberpunk 2077 to contend with. You have both blunt and sharp melee weapons which serve different purposes, then have all your classic weapon types like assault rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, and even a few extras like tech weapons. Two weapon types are highly contested as far as what to keep goes. Here’s whether you should use precision rifles or sniper rifles in Cyberpunk 2077.

Are Precision Rifles or Sniper Rifles Better in Cyberpunk 2077?

The answer to this question will depend entirely on your playstyle in Cyberpunk 2077. Each weapon type is worthy of being added to your arsenal, but only if you have the skill upgrades and the playstyle to support it. Someone who wants to get in their enemy’s face and deal as much damage as possible wouldn’t want to bring a sniper rifle for example.

Sniper rifles provide superior long-range damage that lets you pick off targets with a much lower risk of them hitting you. They’ll deal high single-target damage, provided you’re aiming for the right spots. Meanwhile, precision rifles offer much less damage than sniper rifles but have a faster fire rate to compensate. This lets them deal out damage from medium ranges more effectively.

If it was me making the choice here, I’d say that a precision rifle will be more useful to the majority of you than a sniper rifle will be. Given the existence of different melee weapons and the ever-satisfying Mantis Blades, you’re more likely to be getting up in their face than hanging back and lining up shots. However, I also enjoy a good sniper rifle from time to time. Who can say no to a crispy headshot?
