Should you Save Arabella in Baldur’s Gate 3? – Rewards and Outcomes

The Grove has no room for sssssstealing.

One of the first places you’ll stumble upon in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the Emerald Grove, a sanctuary of Druids under attack by a band of goblins. After helping rid the attackers, you’re invited into the Grove, where you learn of the turbulent relationship between the native High Elves and visiting Tieflings, a race of devil-like humanoids on the brink of exile. Deeper into the Grove, you’ll find a young Tiefling girl named Arabella, who is moments away from execution after being caught stealing an idol and disrupting the Druid ritual meant to seal her people out of the Grove forever. At this point, you’re left with an important choice; Should you Save Arabella in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Should you Save Arabella in Baldur’s Gate 3?

The short answer is yes, you should save Arabella in Baldur’s Gate 3. Firstly because she’s a child and, hot take here, I don’t think children should be killed for making innocent mistakes. Secondly, you’ll be rewarded for saving her life, whereas letting her die will only leave you and her parents with sadness. Lastly, you never know when Arabella could show up again if she’s still alive.

Let’s take a look at the outcomes of both situations below.

Like many situations in Baldur’s Gate 3, there are many ways to solve a problem. You could save Arabella by shedding Elven blood, but the rest of the Grove may not look too fondly at you afterward. She may even end up dead due to collateral damage, so it may be best to avoid violence if you can.

The best way to save Arabella is through diplomatic means. Speak to Kagha and convince her that what she’s doing is wrong. With enough persuasion, intelligence, or pure intimidation, she’ll back down and let Arabella go, where she’ll run off and return to her parents waiting outside.

Speak to Arabella’s parents and they’ll happily reward you with Komira’s Locket, an uncommon amulet that allows the wearer to cast Dancing Lights.

  • Dancing Lights (Evocation Cantrip) – Illuminate a 9m radius (10 turns).

Dancing Lights is a great early-game spell for providing light when you need it the most, like in dark caves!

What Happens if You Let Arabella Die?

If you fail to persuade Kagha to let Arabella go, the venomous snake will bite and kill her. Kagha will show no remorse, much to the dismay of her Druid colleagues.

You’ll have to deliver the bad news to Arabella’s parents outside, witnessing them being stricken with grief and denial before returning home without their daughter. You’ll get nothing in return besides regret.

Saving Arabella is just one of the hundreds of decisions you’ll be making in Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s a robust game with complicated systems, but that doesn’t mean you need to march in blindly. Check out our guide on what +1d4 means in Baldur’s Gate 3 to learn more about dice notation.
