Should You Pick Gran or Djeeta in Granblue Fantasy: Relink?

Which hero should you pick at the start of this journey?

At the start of Granblue Fantasy: Relink, you’ll have the option to choose your protagonist. Should you pick Gran or Djeeta before embarking on this grand journey, or is there not enough difference between the two for the choice to matter?

To be as upfront as possible — there isn’t enough of a difference between the two characters that you can choose to make a major difference in the game. Both will have the same story beats and powers; it’s up to you to choose if you’d rather play as a male or female avatar while exploring the world before you. After playing through the initial prologue as both characters, I can confidently say that their difference is minimal at best.

There are a few altered lines of dialogue through the initial portion of the game, meaning that each character will have their own unique dialogue trees, but other than that, they’re both sword-wielding heroes who will stop at nothing to accomplish what they’ve set out to do. Since Gran is wearing blue, maybe he’s technically the canon hero of this fantasy, but we’ll need to relink back to that in the future.

Beyond the visual difference, there’s nothing major to write home about that will alter the course of the story. They both have the same attack patterns, the same power moves, and even the same elemental skills, so you won’t need to worry about making a wrong choice. They’re also both incredibly powerful, so you can use them in multiplayer moments without worrying that you’re dragging down the team. I appreciate that the team gave us a choice on who we’d like to play and that no major differences between them make one better than the other.
