Should You Keep Auto-Attack On in Death Must Die? – Answered

Auto-Attack Must Die?

Knowing whether to keep an optional mechanic on or off is a dilemma many players face when starting a new video game. In this guide, we’ll go over whether you should keep auto-attack on or off in Death Must Die.

Is Auto-Attack and Auto-Aim Good in Death Must Die?

Unfortunately, it’s not a simple answer of “yes” or “no”. Let’s dive into this gray area because opinions are divided, but I believe we’ll find some middle ground.

Benefits of Keeping Auto-Attack and Auto-Aim ON in Death Must Die

There are four clear benefits in favor of keeping Auto-Attack ON:

  • The game aims and attacks for you at all times if any enemies are in sight, even if they are out of range.
  • From my experience, the game will focus on the enemies closest to your character automatically.
  • This allows you to focus on your character’s movement rather than on the movement, aiming and attacking simultaneously. Things tend to get complicated when hundreds of enemies are simultaneously on the board.
  • You save on wear and tear on your mouse.

Benefits of Turning OFF Auto-Attack and Auto-Aim in Death Must Die

There is only one benefit to keeping the Auto-Attack OFF, but you will understand if I say that it might outweigh the four above-mentioned benefits for the opposite setting.

  • Because there is a mechanic that penalizes your movement speed while you’re actively attacking (or, in other words, you are in the attack animation), sometimes you want to avoid attacking to be able to outrun hordes of enemies with that movement penalty out of the way. Or, in some other cases, you want to stack your enemies for some cool AoE magic.

I understand your points. Should I turn Auto-Attack ON or OFF in Death Must Die?

It’s entirely up to you. If you ask me, I keep it on at all times unless I’m in a boss fight and want my attacks to go straight into the boss – who wants to deal with boss fights longer than they must?

If you are up for some chill time, you may wonder if you can fish in Death Must Die at some point throughout your playthrough.
