Should You Help Lorroakan or Nightsong in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)? – Answered

Another evil wizard

At the top of Razmith’s Tower in the Sorcerous Sundries building, Lorroakan is plotting to capture Nightsong in Baldur’s Gate 3, and he wants you to help him complete his scheme. Before you make any decisions, we’ll go over what happens when you choose either side and what the best option is within BG3.

Should You Give Nightsong to Lorroakan in BG3?

The short answer is no, you should not help Lorroakan in any fashion. You can tell him that Nightsong is alive and well, but you should not give him what he wants. He is essentially just another power-hungry, evil wizard that seeks the answers to immortality, and the rewards for helping him aren’t lucrative.

Even just siding with Lorroakan in Baldur’s Gate 3 will cause your whole party to disapprove of your actions. This is still BG3 though, and that means any major decision has its negatives and benefits. There may still be some of you that want to help the mage at Sorcerous Sundries.

What Happens if You Help Lorroakan in BG3?

If you help Lorroakan capture Nightsong, he will become your ally in the final main campaign battle to come, along with the four elementals he has with nearly 200 HP. You will be rewarded like any other quest as well, but having five powerful allies can be a huge boon for your camp going forward.

To help the mage, you need to go back to camp and tell Nightsong about Lorroakan. Agree to help her take him down and then head directly back to Razmith’s Tower. When the dialogue begins, side with Lorroakan for a price and then get ready to battle against the daughter of Selune. She is powerful, but she is also alone.

By the end of the fight, he will capture Nightsong and become your ally. But who really wants another angry wizard in their camp?

Rewards for Helping Lorroakan

Helping BG3’s Lorroakan will net you the following rewards:

  • 5,000 Gold.
  • Inspiration: Bonus XP.
  • Lorroakan and his elementals as allies for the Gather Your Allies quest.
  • Disapproval from your friends and loved ones.

ghtsong Beat Lorroakan in BG3?

When you help Nightsong defeat Lorroakan in Baldur’s Gate 3, she remains your ally along with Isobel. Although there aren’t as many bodies in the final battle without the mage, both Isobel and Nightsong are far more powerful. Now you have all her gratitude for yet another adventure in which your party aided her.

Helping Nightsong also means you get to loot some of the rare items on Lorroakan, including a new robe and a decent Quarterstaff. The fight itself won’t be as easy, and the mage can hit like a truck, but I prefer this version of events entirely over capturing Nightsong.

Rewards for Helping Nightsong Beat Lorroakan

Beating BG3’s Lorroakan alongside Nightsong will net you the following rewards:

  • Despair of Athkatla: A legendary quarterstaff with a +2 weapon enchantment and +1 to Spell Save DC and Spell Attack Rolls
  • Shelter of Athkatla: A legendary robe with 10AC, Advantage on Saving Throws against spells, and the ability to cast Mirror Image once per Long Rest.
  • Inspiration: Bonus XP.
  • Nightsong and Isobel as allies for the Gather Your Allies quest.

How to Fight Lorroakan

BG3’s Lorroakan is no joke, despite his appearance as a noodly dork. He’s a powerful wizard that will hit you with high-damage elemental spells and set your skin on fire. Luckily, there’s a very easy, cheesy way to get rid of Lorroakan before the fight even begins.

Tip:

It may be tempting, but we recommend not taking Dame Aylin with you into this fight. Her presence will start a special cutscene, but it will also initiate the fight without giving you time to set up your party. And even worse, she’s a reckless fighter and has a high likelihood of dying during the fight, robbing you of a needed ally later in the final hours of the game.

If you do end up taking Dame Aylin into the fight with you (and her stellar cutscene is admittedly good reason to), be sure to have plenty of ways to heal her. She’ll do a lot of the fighting for you, but she’ll need a lot of buffs and healing to get the job done. Elemental resistance is a must.

If you’re at Sorcerous Sundries in Baldur’s Gate’s Lower City, you likely have Gale with you. And if you dont, you should. Before walking too far into Razmith’s Tower, have Gale climb up the ladder to the right of the portal and on to the viewing platform across from Lorroakan. Once you’re up high with your sights on Lorroakan, have Gale target him and cast Flesh To Stone.

Lorroakan will now just stand there and let himself become petrified, as long as he fails four saving checks. There’s a decent chance he will fail these checks, but you may want to save beforehand and reload if luck is against you. Flesh To Stone is a level 6 spell, and you’ll only have one chance to cast it.

Once Lorroakan is completely stone, his elementals will initiate a fight, but Lorroakan will be out of the picture for the entirety of it. Just make sure to break him at some point before Gale loses concentration.

Lorroakan’s elementals can be tough, but they’re much easier to deal with without Lorroakan distracting you. Each elemental myrmidon has between 230-260 HP and are resistant to Poison, Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing. The Fire Myrmidon has an added resistance to fire; the Water Myrmidon has an added resistance to acid; and the Air Myrmidon has added resistances to Thunder and Lightning but also has Tenacity, making it take four bludgeoning damage even when your attacks miss.

We recommend taking on only one of Lorroakan’s elementals at a time, dwindling down their numbers rather than spreading out damage to chip away their HP. The Air Myrmidon is the best to target first to get rid of the Silence effect from its Raging Vortex. Considering all the resistances you’re up against, standard attacks are going to be best here, as well as big AOE spells that do Psychic or Necrotic damage. We recommend taking in your beefiest characters, setting up elemental resistances on them, and then letting them deliver the pain.

If you didn’t take out Lorroakan before the fight, make sure you bring a character with Counterspell. He’s a squirrely man you’ll want to keep in check because his spells are deadly. He’ll counter any of your spells with his own spells, unless you’re doing Psychic damage. The good news is, he’s pretty squishy with only 68 HP, so you should be able to take him out quick. You can also try to knock him off the platform with a spell like Telekinesis to get rid of him.

Where is Lorroakan in BG3?

If you picked up the Find The Nightsong quest way back in Act 1 from Aradin, the salty human grunt with an attitude problem, in Druids’ Grove, you’ll know of Lorroakan as the mysterious figure who put out a bounty to find the Nightsong. Following along this quest all the way to Act 3, you’ll get a quest mark pointing you to Sorcerous Sundries mid-east in the Lower City of Baldur’s Gate.

When you step up to Sorcerous Sundries, you’ll have a little spat with Aradin at the front door. He’ll whine about his struggles for a bit, and you can merrily tell him off, then head on into the building. At the large center desk, there’ll be a purple highlighted projection of Lorroakan. Talk to him and say “Nightsong,” then “yes,” and he’ll have you go upstairs.

Lorroakan’s Projection will open up four portals for you as a test of your knowledge about Nightsong. The portal you want to walk through is the whiteish blue one furthest to the left. This will take you to Razmith’s Tower where Lorroakan will be impatiently waiting.
