The widely anticipated Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn is finally going live globally on February 25, and to prepare, Trainers were given some Primordial Tremor investigation research. Those who completed the tasks were given a choice between a Ruby or a Sapphire badge.
These badges aren’t just for show though, and they will have a small effect on the upcoming event. Along with the badges, there will likely be different tickets when the global Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn event goes live as well. We’ll cover which side you should choose in our guide and the bonuses that come with each.
Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn – Should You Choose Ruby or Sapphire
Before we get into the possibility of ticket differences, we should start with the choice in badges. Choosing a Ruby or a Sapphire badge will determine which team you’re on when February 25 rolls around. Both teams will compete for an hour to finish as many Field Research Tasks as possible. The winning team will determine if more Primal Incursions feature Kyogre or Groudon.
Certain wild spawns will also increase based on the team that wins this competition during the Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn event. You can find all of the wild spawns that are associated with either Primal Surge bonus in the lists below.
Ruby Wild Spawns:
- Plusle
- Trapinch
- Castform
- Volbeat
- Solrock
Sapphire Wild Spawns:
- Minun
- Lunatone
- Wailmer
- Illumise
- Castform
Those are all the bonuses for the Ruby and Sapphire badges that were introduced last week. However, there could be differences in sides when the Pokemon GO Tour: Hoenn event tickets go live. We know there will be a Chasing Legends Special Research story on February 25. No sides have been guaranteed just yet, but tours in the past have had players choose the game they like more. This allows Trainers to catch different wild spawns and to look for more trades during the event.

At the end of the day, which side you should choose really comes down to the Pokemon that you value more. Base your interest on the lists above and you can come to an informed conclusion. Otherwise, base it on the game you played yourself and you’ll be good to go.
