9 Kings is out now on Steam in early access after a highly successful demo that introduced players to its addictive roguelike kingdom builder combat. It’s very easy on the hardware and can practically run on a toaster.

If you’ve been playing the demo and want to start over in the main early access release, here is how to completely reset progress in 9 Kings.

Reset Progress in 9 Kings

Since the demo for 9 Kings was available on Steam for quite a while, you’ll have some local progress picked up by the early access release of 9 Kings as well. To make sure you start fresh and are introduced to the latest features available with each update, you will need to reset your progress in 9 Kings, and here is how that works.

  • Make sure there aren’t pending updates for 9 Kings and launch the game.
  • Once you’re in the main menu, select Options.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the Options page, and click the “Reset Data” button.
  • After that, you’ll receive an in-game prompt that you’ll need to confirm.
  • Select Yes, and the 9 Kings data will be completely reset on PC.

That’s all you need to do to start your journey fresh in 9 Kings. 9 Kings does not have multiple save slots, and you can only have one profile at a time. I hope that the developers consider adding more save slots in the future.

The 9Kings folder inside the SadSocket contains multiple JSON files, which are essentially your saves. During the early access period, you might have to start over multiple times, so knowing where your saves aren’t isn’t exactly that useful unless you want to move around these files a lot.

9 Kings also has Steam Cloud support, meaning that if you’re playing the game on multiple devices, progress is automatically synced when you launch or close the game.

There is also support for family share, multiple achievements to unlock, and trading cards to obtain. Hooded Horse has released another solid title in early access that is already getting plenty of patches to improve the player experience.

When he isn't spending an unhealthy amount of time in Slay the Spire, he's probably trying out yet another retro-shooter or playing Dark Souls for the 50th time.
