If you’ve been digging around in Red Dead Redemption 2 or a little bit, then you might have come across one of the game’s many mysteries. You meet some real characters out there in the Wild West, and each of them usually has their own agenda or concerns. Whether or not you can help them is generally a roll of your morality dice, but some of these mysteries have been puzzling the community for a while. Red Dead Redemption 2 Gavin Mystery – Who Is He?
If you’ve not heard of Gavin, then you haven’t yet run across a concerned mate of his who’s basically ministering in various townships and locations. The subject of his incessant prattling? He’s trying to get you to find, well, Gavin. You can find Gavin’s mate in the following places:
- Blackwater
- MacFarlane’s Ranch
- Saint Denis
- Rhodes
Gavin’s mate is pretty distraught at the idea that his friend has gone missing, and if you like, you can assist him in the search. You’re going to get some qualifiers about this missing person when you run into his friend, but the gist of it is that you’re looking for an Englishman. However, if you dig deep enough into this mystery, you’ll actually find that Gavin might not actually be, well, alive?
We found this out because if you merc the guy that’s looking for him, well, you can loot his pockets and find that he’s been telling a whole bunch of fibs to people that he knows from England. Let’s just say that he isn’t living the fanciest of existences out here in the Wild West, but the people he’s been talking to reckon he’s living the real high life. To this end, we’re not even sure that Gavin is actually a real person because hey, what else has this guy lied about?
Plus, if you clear the game and you crack into the Epilogue without actually killing this guy who’s been looking for Gavin, then you’re still going to find him, well, ranting to anyone who would listen about how his mate’s gone missing. If that isn’t definitive crackpot hours then we don’t know what is. Regardless of Gavin’s fate, no one in the community has quite found him yet, so we’re willing to bet that it’s a bit of a crackpot hallucination.
