Animal Crossing: New Horizons players in the Southern Hemisphere will be able to begin to encounter and catch the Pond Smelt in June and through August. 

It is also important to note that this creature will spawn at any time of the day. Players can encounter and catch Pond Smelt anytime they want. This spawning schedule means that players will not have to set aside some dedicated time during a specific period if they want to have a chance at catching one of these critters in the ocean.

You will find that this aquatic creature is small, which means those looking to catch Pond Smelt will need to focus on small shadow sizes when fishing in the sea.
