Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Are Carmine & Kieran in The Indigo Disk?

Do these characters return in the Indigo Disk?

Running across familiar faces is always a treat, especially in DLC which is separated into multiple parts. With Carmine and Kieran (a.k.a. Kiki) being the standout stars of the Teal Mask, do they make their triumphant return in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk, or are they one and done?

Are Carmine and Kieran in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Inidigo Disk?

For those that loved these two characters, you can rejoice. Both Carmine and Kieran make their return to Blueberry Academy in The Indigo Disk, with one character in particular being the standout this time around. While Carmine may have been the more aggressive of the two the first go around, it looks as if Kieran may have finally completed his Joker arc and has become quite the bad dude himself.

You’ll encounter Carmine shortly after finding an Alolan Pokemon for class in The Indigo Disk, so be prepared to see a new version of each of these characters, as the transformation is rather shocking overall.

What Role Do Carmine and Kieran Play in The Indigo Disk?

While young, carefree, and full of affection toward the Main Character, this came to a screeching halt for Kieran when his favorite Pokemon, Ogerpon, decided to venture forward with you rather than him. This seems to have put some sort of a chokehold on Kiki, or Kieran, who is now a ruthless Pokemon trainer in The Indigo Disk and isn’t afraid to tell other Trainers where to go and how to get there.

Maybe Kieran was just tired of living in his sister’s shadow, or maybe the choice that Ogerpon made at the end of The Teal Mask was enough for him to finally snap. No matter what, Kieran is back, and he’s a completely different person this time around, sporting an all new look. Gone are the timid face-covering bangs; Kieran has replaced them with a messy updo and a heavy-lidded expression to compliment his newly adopted stern and disciplined attitude.

In The Indigo Disk, you’ll find out pretty quickly that Kieran has trained hard and risen in the ranks of the Blueberry Academy’s League Club, becoming the BB Elite Four Champion and top dog of the academy. Some of Kieran’s peers, including Carmine, aren’t too happy about his change, commenting on how lousy it is to be around Kieran now. This is where you, the player character, come in to help bring about change among the BB Elite Four and hopefully soften the hard edge Kieran has adopted.

As for Kieran’s sister, Carmine, she isn’t as prevalent in the DLC as she was in The Teal Mask. You’ll bump into Carmine now and then and have a chat as she expresses her concerns, but she’s become a bit more reserved compared to her past role, largely keeping to herself. All in all, The Indigo Disk isn’t as big on character development and story as The Teal Mask was, and instead focuses more on providing new challenging gameplay. But with that said, you’ll still see a promising conclusion to Kieran and Carmine’s character arcs started in the prior DLC.

Besides Carmine and Kieran, there are even more unique characters to meet within the world of the Indigo Disk, so make sure that you’re checking out our Pokemon Scarlet and Violet section below to learn more about these characters, and maybe find out where you can get your hands on a Kleavor before continuing with the story.
