Pokemon GO Fest 2020 Makeup Event – Everything You Need to Know

Niantic is throwing ticket-holders a bone after some IT woes.
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information

Years after its launch, Pokemon GO is still a huge game with a thriving community, and no doubt a giant money-printer for everyone involved. But that doesn’t mean Pokemon GO is immune to technical mishaps. For the most part, this year’s Pokemon GO Fest event seemed to go smoothly, save for some drama over a community puzzle. But there were some issues during the event’s “habitat blocks,” which caused paying partitipants to be unable to fully benefit from their purchases. So Niantic is holding a Pokemon GO Fest 2020 makeup event to make things right. If you need to know when the event is, what it entails, and what extra bonuses you can get, look no further than our breakdown of everything you need to know!

Pokemon GO Fest 2020 Makeup Event Guide

Niantic has announced the details of the event a few weeks ahead of time, giving Pokemon GO Fest 2020 participants ample time to clear out their calendars. The makeup event will run on August 16, 2020, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM local time. The primary purpose of the event is to make the featured Pokemon show up more frequently, which was originally the plan before the tech issues got in the way. During Pokemon GO Fest there were three different habitat blocks, which are being run again during the makeup block on an hourly basis. Here are the specifics:

  • Fire – 11:00 AM
  • Water – 12:00 PM
  • Friendship – 1:00 PM

Incense is going to be a major factor during these times, so make sure you have some ready to go. Incense will be boosted to last for a full hour, and not only will it attract the featured Pokemon at a higher rate, but there are certain featured Pokemon that will only appear if incense is activated. If you’re short on resources, event participants will also be able to snag a free box containing two Incense and two Remote Raid Passes. The only caveat there is you won’t be able to claim the box if you have more than three Remote Raid Passes in your Item Bag already.

As a final bonus, if you open any Gifts during the makeup event, there’s a chance you’ll receive Rare Candies.

It may go without saying, but it’s important to note that if you weren’t a participant in the Pokemon GO Fest 2020 proper event, you won’t be able to join in on the makeup event. This stuff will only be made available for players who purchased a ticket.

No force on this Earth is strong enough to prevent internet-heavy games from having technical issues, and Pokemon GO is definitely no stranger to this kind of situation. Luckily Niantic has always been good at reacting to problems and making sure players are compensated fairly when real money is involved. Are you excited about the Pokemon GO Fest 2020 makeup event?
