Path of Exile 2 launched into early access earlier this month and it’s already one of the biggest releases of 2024. The long-awaited sequel to the free-to-play action RPG has not disappointed, achieving a peak player count on Steam of nearly 600K players. The developers have adopted an early access model similar to the first entry to take valuable feedback from players and develop the remaining content simultaneously. Here is everything we know about the Path of Exile 2 full launch date.
Path of Exile 2 Full Launch Date
If all goes well, the full release of Path of Exile 2 is expected to drop in June or early July 2025. This is based on a few things confirmed by the developers and the current state of the release.
In the official Early Access FAQ, Grinding Gear Games states that they expect Path of Exile 2 to remain in early access for at least six months.
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“As long as needed. We believe it will be at least 6 months.”
Six months is on the lower side of estimates when it comes to early access releases, but Path of Exile 2 launched in a fairly polished state so it’s not exactly comparable to many other early access titles we’ve seen on Steam. We don’t expect to see major visual or technical changes and it seems to be mostly done on that end, which means that balancing and new content is the main focus going forward.
Additionally, Path of Exile 2 didn’t just launch on PC but had a simultaneous console release as well. This means that the developers don’t have to develop the console versions that a lot of early access titles get to after the PC launch.
Path of Exile 2 is packed with content, including six diverse playable classes and three campaign acts with nearly 50 bosses and 400 monster types to fight. The rich end-game content offers a challenging but fair experience, that’s a tad unrewarding at the moment, but still highly replayable, and full of variety.
Grinding Gear Games plans to double this with six additional classes, three more acts, new items, and gems, as well as expanded endgame content, areas, bosses, and monsters by the time version 1.0 launches. Even in its current state, players can spend hundreds of hours with a single class, so there is no shortage of high-quality content.
Grinding Gear Games is also active on the official forums and closely monitoring the Steam community hub as well as the subreddit for feedback. They’ve already released a heavy balancing patch that addresses some of the major concerns players had with the launch version. As far as feedback response is concerned, they’ve been very transparent and consistent.
Path of Exile 2 Full Launch Pricing
Path of Exile 2 will be free-to-play once it’s out of early access. It’s currently priced to fund the development of the full release which we’re expecting to come out in the first half of 2025.
All of these factors point to a shorter early access period and six months doesn’t seem impossible. However, given the unpredictable nature of the games industry, anything can happen. The developers have made it clear that they will take as much time as needed to release the best possible version of Path of Exile 2. If six months doesn’t cut it, what’s six more if you’re getting something truly special?
