The new year is upon us, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is celebrating with the new limited-time Vortex event. The event adds a new mode to the game alongside a few remixed maps and 15 rewards to earn.
MW3 Vortex Event Mode and Dates
The limited-time event adds a new mode called Vortex, which brings the Ray Gun from the Zombies into competitive multiplayer. One player starts with the Ray Gun, which is still a one-hit kill and can be used until killed. The player who scored the kill will then receive the Ray Gun to use until death.
The Vortex Event will begin on Jan. 3, 2024, at 10 AM PT or 1 PM ET until Jan. 17. Players will have 14 days to play on the three new maps and earn exclusive rewards during that time.
MW3 Vortex Event Maps
The Vortex mode will consist of three Modern Warfare 3 maps that have been slightly changed to fit the cataclysmic theme of the event. These are exclusive to the limited-time mode and will more than likely not be added to the full game once the event is over.
The three maps are Sporeyard, Satan’s Quarry, and Tetanus. These are remixed versions of Boneyard, Quarry, and Rust respectively, and each map features 6v6 action.
MW3 Vortex Event Rewards
15 rewards can be earned during the Vortex Event by simply playing the game and earning XP. Players who have purchased the Horsemen: War Ultra Skin bundle and wear the War Horse skin will also receive additional XP to unlock the rewards faster. Here are all 15 rewards that must be unlocked in order during the Vortex Event:
- The Goat Weapon Sticker
- Double XP Token
- Through the Smoke Large Decal
- Double Weapon XP Token
- Ghost Fire Charm
- Skull Fire Large Decal
- Volcanic Emblem
- A Little Rusty Calling Card
- Double Battle Pass XP Token
- Winged Fire Weapon Sticker
- Double XP Token
- Forged in Flames Calling Card
- Putrid Skulls Weapon Sticker
- Double Weapon XP Token
- Magma Camo
