Mortal Kombat 11 is now available and players are diving all in and delivering their best Fatalities. Like previous entries into this beloved franchise, there are multiple modes for players to partake in. One such most is the Krypt, a dungeon that is filled with chests that hold coveted items such as unique gear and alternative character skins. For those that want the “komplete” Mortal Kombat 11 experience, there’s a few things about the chests that are important to know.

Chests in the Krypt can be opened using Koins, which can be earned by playing the different modes available. In additions to the Koins, players can also open up these chests with other in-game ‘kurrency’ as well: Souls Fragments and Hearts.

  • Hearts – Destroy bodies in the Krypt specifically using the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi. Players can also earn Hearts by performing Fatalities in the game’s other modes.
  • Soul Fragments – Exploring the Krypt is the best option, though in order to use these to open chests – players will need Ermac’s Soul Amulet.

Since obtaining this currency requires certain items, here is where players can find said items within the Krypt in order to open up all of the chests available.

Shao Kahn’s Hammer

  • This will be acquired as soon as the player enters the Krypt

Gem of the Living

  • Heading outside of the Krypt to the North, players will find various statues of known Mortal Kombat fighters. Go past the statues to trigger a scene that will destroy Raiden’s likeness and then use Shao Kahn’s Hammer on the fallen meteorite in order to farm the Gem.

Cracked Horn of the Motaro

  • Once the Gem of the Living has been acquired, take it to Kronika’s Time Vault and use it to open the door to head further underground. Once below, players will see a gate that hides the Cracked Horn of the Motaro.

Ermac’s Soul Amulet (Important Item)

  • Go back to the outdoor area where the Gem of the Living was found, and head to the western door that leads to Goro’s Lair. Once inside, explore the area until a dining area is found where a pullable chain will be in the corner. Pull the chain to trigger another cut scene and then retreive the Soul Amulet from the body.

Spear of Hanzo Hasahi (Important Item)

  • Still inside of Goro’s Lair, head to the Amory where a pillar will be found. A line of fire can be seen across the pillar where the Spear of Hanzo Hasahi will be located.
