This particular beast has a very distinctive look. Nargacuga has made an appearance in many a Monster Hunter game, even the adorable spin-off Monster Hunter Stories, so to say that its an iconic figure is putting it mildly. With its dark fur, demonic eyes, and spiked lash of a tail, there’s plenty to have to watch out for when you’re dancing with this devil.

Don’t let the wings deceive you. Nargacuga has plenty of lethal potential when it’s grounded, and this isn’t just because it has sharp teeth and claws like every other monster. Nargacuga shoots spikes that give you a Bleed debuff, which you’re going to want to dodge successfully to ensure that you’re not a stuck pig when the time comes to avoid some of its deadlier attacks. It’s easy to tell when this wyvern is enraged; its eyes will glow their signature red, and its tail will become more prominently barbed. What this enrage status means is that it’s going to hit harder, more unpredictably, and quicker. That being said, our recommendation during this time would be to take care of its pesky tail to eliminate a major source of damage.

Some general tips and tricks for beating Nargacuga are as follows:

  • Stay well out of range of its lashing tail
  • When its tail is embedded in the ground after a missed attack, start carving away
  • Make sure that you have food supplies like Steak if you’re hit with the Bleed debuff
  • This beast is quick, so learn to use Pitfall Traps, vines, and more to stop it in its tracks
  • Capitalize on the Thunder and Fire elemental weaknesses of the beast

Now that you’ve got our Monster Hunter World Iceborne Nargacuga guide to hand, you can start making a dent in the tougher foes that this latest expansion has to throw at you. Check our guides hub as we update it with more tips on how to take down the biggest beasts.
