If you fancied the Jyuratodos or the Beotodus to be slippery opponents, then you’re in for a world of pain when it comes to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. In particular, we’re talking about one of the Elder Dragons in the expansion: Namielle. Forget elemental synchronicity; this beast controls lightning even as it wreathes itself in water, and it packs a deadly punch on top of remarkable defenses. Monster Hunter World Iceborne Namielle Guide

Namielle is an Elder Dragon, which means that they’re no joke. We already briefly discussed the horror of their elemental double whammy, but just in case it wasn’t clear: Namielle coats itself in water as a way to protect itself from would-be hunters like yourself, whilst continuing to harness the power of electricity to royally ruin your day. This might come as an absolute surprise considering what we’ve just said, but it’s weak to Fire, so pack your blazing blade in your bag and you’ll be one step ahead of everything else.

Namielle is generally also susceptible to Poison and Blast damage, so if you’re someone who’s enterprising enough to pack for every occasion then you’ll want to keep that in mind as well. One thing to note is that you’re essentially going to do very little if you don’t let Namielle wear itself out first. Yes, that’s right. It’s a bit of a waiting game; every time the monster shoots water out of some damned orifice or tries to brain you with it, its coat becomes more dry. Once the water wreathing its body has evaporated from exertion, you’ll then be able to pop in and do damage to it.

Here are some tips and tricks we’d recommend you keep in mind when fighting Namielle:

  • Bring your Fire weapon to the party
  • Make sure you’re conserving yourself for when Namielle is dry
  • Keep Namielle away from water sources or get rid of them using slinger fire or Brightmoss
  • Watch out for the steam created by Namielle and how it can electrocute pools of water

We’d like to think that our Monster Hunter Iceborne Namielle guide has given you a better idea of what to do when facing down this slippery beast. Struggling with another formidable enemy? Maybe our Shara Ishvalda guide will help you out.
