When you first start Magikarp Jump, and acquire your first Magikarp, you aren’t given the option to name it anything different. This is quite unusual for a Pokemon game, as in the main franchise you are always given the option to give your Pokemon a nickname. Don’t worry, though, Magikarp Jump hasn’t completely done away with this system, and in this article we’ll teach you how to name your Magikarp in Magikarp Jump, so you can set it out from the rest.
How to Name Your Magikarp
Naming your Magikarp is actually extremely easy. First, complete the first generation by leveling your first Magikarp up the way up. Once this happens, your very first Magikarp will be retired, having done everything it can to be a jumping champion. Don’t cry yet, though, as you’ll soon be on your way to catching yet another Magikarp that you can feed, train, and participate in events with. Once you are given the option to get a new Magikarp, choose your Rod, and then head off to the pond.
After a few moments of fishing, another Magikarp will take the bait, and you’ll then be given the option to give it a nickname. This is just one of many ways that they game allows you to set your Magikarp apart from the others, and while you may love naming your Magikarp, you’ll probably get pretty tired of the whole tirade pretty quickly, unless you just name all of your future Magikarps the same thing. Snoopy 1, Snoopy 2, hey—we’re not judging!
That’s really the only way we currently know to name your Magikarp in Magikarp Jump. The game does state that you can change your Magikarp’s nickname at any point in time, which can be accomplished very easily from just about any screen in the game.
