Take a trip down to New Bordeaux, and make your way up to the top of the criminal food chain in Mafia 3. You’ll need to work hard and smart if you want to take down the toughest criminals in the area. In this article we’ll teach you some basic Mafia 3 tips, as well as point out a few things that every new player should be aware of when they dive in.
If you want to stay alive in Mafia 3, and help Lincoln Clay get to the top, you’re going to have to know what you’re doing. Like many third-person games out there, stealth, cover, and combat tactics are going to play a very important role in keeping Lincoln alive. The tips we’ve listed below are very important, so be sure to look them over and let them sink in before you move on.
Swap Out Your Weapons
While you can use the Weapon Wheel to change your weapons around, the easiest way to swap weapons is to press the LB or RB (L1 and R1 on PlayStation) buttons. This will swap between the Heavy Weapon in your right slot, and the Handgun in your left slot. It’s great for taking out enemies when you run out of ammo.
Switch up Your Aim Stance
Like most third-person shooters out there, Mafia 3 defaults to an over-the-right shoulder stance when aiming with your weapon. Use the L3 button (or Left Control Stick on Xbox) to switch from side to side and aim around cover.
Open Sesame – the Art of Opening Doors
When dealing with locked doors you can either kick it in, or jimmy it open silently. Kicking it in will alert all nearby enemies to your presence, while jimmying it open with a crowbar will allow you to approach silently. Choose carefully depending on the situation, and always be ready to take enemies out in case they’re waiting for you to come in.
Use Your Associates
Lincoln has some friends in high places, and you’ll want to make sure you’re making the most of them as you spend time exploring New Bordeaux. There are quite a few different types of Associates, and we’ll break them all down a little later on, but for now, just remember to make use of their services any time you need them. They are there to help, and taking down criminal empires is going to require a little backup along the way.
These are just a few tips we have to offer for new players to Mafia 3.
