Is Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Set in the Same World as Breath of the Wild? – Answered

Are they the same world? Who's to say.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is a direct sequel to Breath of The Wild, which was released in 2017 on the Wii U and Nintendo Switch. We haven’t seen a ton of gameplay from Tears of the Kingdom, but fans have been wondering if this is the same world as Breath of The Wild. So we are here to try and answer that question.

Is Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Set in the Same World as Breath of the Wild? – Answered

Tears of the Kingdom is set in Hyrule and takes place after the events of Breath of The Wild; well, that’s what we’re assuming. There have been some theories that some time travel is involved in the main story of Tears of the Kingdom, but nothing has been confirmed either way.

In the latest gameplay deep dive from Nintendo, we saw familiar sites in the world of Hyrule. We saw an outpost and a Korok in the distance, implying that this was the same world as Breath of The Wild. Obviously, much has changed since Breath of The Wild, mainly in the form of giant floating platforms in the sky known as Sky Islands.

So while it is likely the same world as Breath of The Wild, many new features and changes have been brought to Hyrule due to its current conflict with whatever evil is plaguing the land. Expect to see a lot of familiar locations, but they might be flipped on their head or twisted in ways to keep it fresh. We don’t know how much of the old space is returning or if new areas will be unlocked entirely.

You can check out the gameplay clip below and see the sites of Hyrule for yourself; there will be plenty to chew on in this game.

Looks similar enough, and unless some really weird story beats happen, we think its safe to assume this is the same world as Breath of The Wild. Have you purchased Tears of the Kingdom yet? Have you seen its price tag?
