Is the “Wanted” Trait Worth it in Starfield? – Answered

And I'm Wanted.... Dead or Alive.

While zooming through the galaxy in your favorite ship in Starfield, you may be wishing there was a little more space combat to engage in. Going from planet to planet, galaxy to galaxy is always fun, but a little bit of spice can keep things interesting. When you first create your character, you’re able to select Traits that will follow you throughout your adventure, and one that immediately caught our eye is the “Wanted” trait. Is it worth filling a Trait spot on, or are you better off spending your Trait spot on something else?

Should You Choose Wanted In Starfield? – Answered

It’s a hard sell. Twelve hours into the game, we only ran into one “Wanted” encounter, and it was fairly bland. But when jumping through space in your customized ship, you may find yourself on the receiving end of some threats from opposing factions.

After some, admittedly fun, dialogue, you can either engage them in battle or pay a bounty and escape unscathed. If you chose this trait, it’s because you’re ready to rumble and want to show them who is the boss of the planet, so a battle is likely to ensue. After you defeat them… that’s about it.

Personally, the Wanted trait feels like a bit of a miss overall. Sure, you can encounter Bounty Hunters that are waiting for you on the ground, but it’s so rare that it feels like a complete oversight. The dialogue options you get are fun, and if you’re going for the international outlaw Long-Hauler like we are, it at least makes some of the dialogue choices a little less safe and sterile than normal. Overall, however, we would recommend that you choose a different trait to fill the final spot, as this one isn’t worth the time.

How to Remove the Starfield Wanted Trait

Say you decided to dedicate one of your three Trait slots to the Wanted Trait but, like us, you weren’t all too impressed with it and the Wanted Trait has now become unwanted. What now? Well, you can remove Starfield’s Wanted Trait by talking to a bounty hunter. Speak to a Tracker Alliance Agent in any main city, and they’ll offer to permanently remove the Wanted Trait for 3,000 credits. You can easily find one of these agents near Cydonia’s entrance on Mars.

No matter if you’re aiming for someone sweet and genuine, or you want to be a vicious member of the Crimson Fleet, there are plenty of choices to be made in Starfield.
