Is it Worth Choosing Spaced or Terra Firma Traits in Starfield?

Space or no space? That is the question.

Creating a character in Starfield can be a daunting task, given just how many options you have. The expansive character creator has more than enough options for one, but you also have to choose both a character background and traits that affect your playthrough. Two specific traits are a bit confusing in terms of their usefulness. Here’s whether it’s worth it to choose the Spaced or Terra Firma traits in Starfield.

Should You Choose Spaced or Terra Firma as a Trait in Starfield?

First things first, a bit of background. The Spaced trait will increase your health and oxygen values in space but will reduce both values when you’re on the surface of a planet. The Terra Firma trait, on the other hand, will do the vice versa. You can’t pick both traits at the same time since they will cancel each other out.

Now, as for whether you should pick either, that’ll depend heavily on which of the two you’re eyeing. The Spaced trait will have very little effect on your actual gameplay since you won’t be spending much time in space (unless you want to spend the rest of your life on a space station). The Terra Firma, inversely, is easily one of the better traits in the game. 90% of the time, you’ll have free health and oxygen boosts, and who’s going to complain about that?

For me, I ran this trait with the Extrovert and Taskmaster traits, and I appreciated the bonuses coming together, especially with the Extrovert and Terra Firma traits almost always giving their buffs. You won’t be too hurt if you choose to run neither though. The buffs from traits aren’t that substantial.
