Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is the latest action RPG from the developers of Ashen described as a Souls-lite action RPG where you’ll take down Gods as Nor Vanek. It’s now available on PC and consoles, and while the PC version has a few technical hiccups here and there, it’s fairly well-optimized for the most part. Though, is Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn playable on the Steam Deck? Here is everything you need to know.
Is Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn Playable on the Steam Deck?
Yes, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is completely playable on the Steam Deck and currently has a “Playable” status from Valve.
Thanks to its decent optimization and upscaling support, you can use XeSS and play the title with the balanced preset at the low settings mixed in with a few at medium. While 60 FPS is achievable, we recommend capping the framerate using Steam’s frame limiter to 45 or 50 FPS for a more consistent experience. FSR is also present, but I prefer XeSS over it, thanks to its better image reconstruction.
Currently, some of the text can be a bit small, which is why the game doesn’t have the “verified” tag, but from our testing, it’s not that bad and readable for the most part.
There are a few issues with the Steam Deck version currently, like the character’s movement, which feels like it’s being played out at a lower frame rate, but it’s nothing that’s too distracting overall.
Does Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn Have Steam Cloud Support?
Yes, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn has Steam Cloud support which means you can easily pick up progress between devices, making it very continent to switch between PC and Steam Deck.
We hope the developers iron out these minor issues soon and continue to improve the title’s performance.
Make sure to check out our thoughts on other recent releases like Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess and Anger Foot to see how well they run on the Steam Deck as well.
