Is Final Fantasy XVI Coming to PC? – Answered

A game for all players to enjoy

With much excitement and anticipation, Final Fantasy XVI will be officially released later this week. The PS5 title is the first next-gen installment of the lengthy series, and its Demo has shown what we should expect of the full title. But is the game remaining a PS5 exclusive forever or will it find its way to PC eventually?

Will Final Fantasy XVI Be Available on PC?

While it remains a PS5 exclusive during release, Final Fantasy XVI will eventually also be available on PC. But don’t expect a port to be out for a good while, as the game likely has to remain an exclusive title due to their contract with Sony.

During an interview with Japanese website Ascii, producer and director Naoki Yoshida confirmed that the team will be working on a PC port. Here’s a translation of his affirmation, courtesy of Siliconera.

“In regards to the development of the PC port, we plan to slowly work on it after release [of FFXVI for the PS5].”

A PC version is definitely being made, but the “slowly work” bit here suggests that this is far from a priority right now. Square Enix acknowledges that players want to experience the game on their computers too, but Sony needs to earn their share before that.

This will be a similar situation to Final Fantasy VII Remake, which remained a PS4 exclusive for a good while before eventually being ported to PCs. It took a whole year and a half for that to happen, but hopefully, the wait won’t be as big for XVI.

If you have a PS5 and still haven’t decided on getting the game, you can try out its Demo for free, which lets you get a glimpse of what’s waiting for you in the full game. And believe me, this is a hell of a good ride!
