Injustice 2 is a unique 2D fighting game in that players can duck attacks. While there are some other games that allow this, it’s more prominent in Injustice 2 compared to some other fighting games. In this article we’ll cover ducking attacks in Injustice 2, as well as how to perform attacks that duck. It’s important to become skilled at ducking attacks in Injustice 2 so that you can avoid taking hip damage or being caught at a disadvantage after blocking certain attacks.
Attacks that Duck
If you’ve come across the daily challenge that requires you to perform a ducking attack, you need to perform any attack that executes from a crouching position. The easiest way to do this is by selecting Green Arrow and use his trait (Circle on PS4, B on Xbox). Simply hold the trait button, crouch and release. This unleashes an arrow while in a crouching position, attacking while ducking. Other characters have similar attacks, but Green Arrow is one of the easiest to perform.
Ducking Under Attacks
Any attack that’s listed as “High” You can hold down to crouch under the attack. Head into practice mode and go through each character’s move list to see the move type in the mode data area to the right. If it says, “High” under move type, it means you can duck under the attack.
If you know an opponent is going to start their combo with a high attack, you can usually interrupt it with a low attack if you’re fast enough. This won’t work 100 percent of the time, but it’s a good strategy to employ if you can properly predict how your opponent will start their next combo.
Most projectile attacks are also considered “High” which means you can duck under them without taking chip damage from blocking. However, keep in mind that a Meter Burn projectile attack will sometimes change the attack from a High to a Mid, which means you can no longer duck under it. Pay close attention so you don’t get caught off guard by a Meter Burn projectile attack.
If you start ducking under a lot of your opponent’s attacks, be careful that they don’t throw in an overhead attack. Any attack classified as “Overhead” must be blocked from a standing position. If you try to duck under it or block in a crouching position, the overhead will still connect and your character will take damage.
