Although the default classes at the start of the game are enough to get you by for a while, eventually you will unlock the ability to create your own class so that you can customize your loadout to your liking. This guide explains when you can expect to unlock the create a class option in Black Ops 4 so that you can think about your future loadouts in advance and plan accordingly.

When Does Create a Class Unlock in Black Ops 4?

Players will unlock the option to create a class in Black Ops 4 upon reaching Level 5 in mulitiplayer. Until then, players must use the pre-made default class loadouts for each multiplayer match. Reaching Level 5 in multiplayer shouldn’t take too long if you are putting in the effort to play the game. The more multiplayer matches you play and participate in, the more experience you’ll earn to level up. Progress is tied to each specific game mode, so if you want to unlock Create a Class in multiplayer, you must play and level up in multiplayer matches to do so.

How to create a class in Black Ops 4

When you first begin playing Black Ops 4 multiplayer, you will start out with the Breach, Mercenary, and Support class loadouts, with Sentinel and Marksman unlocking at Level 2 and Level 3 respectively. Players who want a fast weapon should try out the Breach class, which utilizes the Cordite SMG. For players who prefer a more methodical approach, the KN-57 on the Mercenary class may be a more suitable option. 

All you really need to do to be able to create a class in Black Ops 4 is keep playing multiplayer so that you can level up. This should take you roughly an hour or so, depending on the types of multiplayer matches you’re playing. If you hit level five and the Create a Class option doesn’t unlock, you may need to restart your game to see the changes.
