How To Use Voice Chat In Roblox

Testing, testing... is this thing on?

Much like any online platform, Roblox thrives on its player base and community. Depending on the experience that you jump into, you may find yourself wanting some more verbal communication, especially in high-octane shooters like Frontline. Curious myself, I recently found out that Roblox does offer Voice Chat directly in the platform, much to my surprise. Since there are many younger users on the platform, there is a very specific way that you’ll need to activate this feature, so let’s jump in and find out what you need to do to activate voice chat in Roblox.

How To Turn On Voice Chat In Roblox

The first thing players should know is this: You’ll need to be at least 16 to activate voice chat in Roblox. There is a good reason for this, as parents may not want their younger kids exposed to harsh language if someone decides to be a bit vulgar in the voice chat.

If you’re hoping to use voice chat, however, you’ll first need to go to your Account Settings page. Once inside, make your way to the Persona section, where it will ask you to verify your age. This will likely require a photo of your driver’s license or State ID to verify that you are the age you say you are. You’re almost done, just a few more steps to go.

Make your way into the Privacy Tab, and you should find Voice Chat under here. It may take a few moments to finally show up in this section, so just be patient if it isn’t there right away. Once you have activated it, you’ll be ready to use Voice Chat in any experience on the platform.

How Do You Use Voice Chat In Roblox?

If you’re hoping to activate Voice Chat once you are in an experience, you’ll just need to click on the standard chat box. Inside, you’ll see a new icon, showing a microphone, and once you click that, you’ll be able to communicate with friends and other players just by using your voice.

Does Roblox Monitor Voice Chats?

To protect the safety of younger users, and to avoid any sort of hate speech or vulgarity, Roblox does monitor all voice activity in their games. This means that hateful or nasty players during games have a very good chance of losing their accounts if they aren’t watching what they say.

Not only does this promote a more positive vibe in the game itself, but you can also report players that are being a bit nastier than they should be with a few simple steps. You’ll just need to bring up the menu, find the player you would like to report, and click the flag in their profile view. This will report them to Roblox staff members, who can review the audio and take appropriate action.
