How to Use Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight Valley

What are these mysterious dolls used for?

Disney Dreamlight Valley has numerous mysterious objects that you can use to unlock new cosmetics, characters, or locations, and Matryoshka dolls are just one of many examples. Here’s a complete guide to using Matryoshka dolls in Disney Dreamlight Valley, including where to find them.

What Are Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

In Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll use Matryoshka dolls to unlock Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King from The Nightmare Before Christmas. There are four Matryoshka dolls around the map in random locations, meaning every player will have slightly different spawn spots for the dolls.

Picking up Matryoshka dolls also initiates the Something Comes A’Knocking quest, requiring you to locate all four Matryoshka dolls and find Jack Skellington to complete.

Tip:

The Something Comes A’Knocking quest is a part of the free Pumpkin King Returns update for Disney Dreamlight Valley. If you’re trying to hunt for Matryoshka dolls and unlock Jack Skellington, our favorite lanky Pumpkin King, make sure you’ve first updated your game.

After finding all the dolls, you’ll have to bring them to the Forgotten Lands, where you’ll interact with a large brown tree to unlock Jack.

How to Find Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Since Matryoshka doll spawn locations are random, the places you’ll spot them in Dreamlight Valley will differ from mine or others. Generally speaking, you’ll want to search the ground for them as they appear standing on the floor, waiting for you to pick them up.

There will always be at least one Matryoshka doll in the Plaza. The other dolls may spawn in the following biomes:

  • Peaceful Meadow.
  • Glade of Trust.
  • Forest of Valor.
  • Dazzle Beach.
  • Frosted Heights.
  • Sunlit Plateau.

I found two in the Plaza, one in Peaceful Meadow, and one in the Glade of Trust. While your doll locations may differ, these are good starting spots if you’re trying to find them.

Where to Use Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Once you have all four Matryoshka dolls, bring them to the Forgotten Lands and interact with the large brown tree with a jack-o’-lantern on its trunk. From here, place each doll in the item box to gradually add decorations to the tree.

Tip:

If you don’t have the Forgotten Lands unlocked yet, you’ll have to open Sunlit Plateau using 7,000 Dreamlight, while the Forgotten Lands costs an additional 10,000. Once you unlock them, you’ll have access forever, allowing you to travel back and forth as you wish, complete regional quests, and search for Jack Skellington’s tree.

At first, when you add the Matryoshka dolls, the Jack-o’-Lantern on the tree will change color, with further additions causing candy to spawn at its trunk. Upon adding all four Matryoshka dolls, Jack Skellington will immediately appear in Dreamlight Valley.

With Jack Skellington unlocked, you can now complete the Something Comes A’Knocking quest by building him a house for 5,000 Star Coins. Jack will then have a new quest for you, The Pumpkin King Returns, in which you’ll help him make some new friends.

And that solves the mystery of the Matryoshka dolls in Dreamlight Valley. Are you exploring Disney Dreamlight Valley’s first paid expansion as well? Check out how to unlock Eternity Isle in Disney Dreamlight Valley, or click the tag below to browse our growing article list.
