How to Upgrade Weapons & Armor in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Only the best for the Arisen.

Equipment is more important than your stats in Dragon’s Dogma 2, which means you need to upgrade weapons and armor as soon as possible. In my guide, I’ll outline how you can get this done and what it might cost along the way.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to Enhance Weapons and Armor

Weapon Enhancement

Go to any Smithy in a settlement and select the Enhance Weapon or Enhance Armor options to upgrade up to three tiers. Each tier that you reach will give your weapon more raw damage or your armor better defense. In some cases, your equipment can even gain a lower weight with each upgrade and some additional buffs to existing stats. That means you want to start the upgrade process as soon as possible, and the Smithy in Vernworth is a great place to begin.

The first tier of any equipment upgrade in Dragon’s Dogma 2 will simply require a bit of Gold. Better equipment will eventually call for larger sums of Gold, but by that time, your pockets should be full. After that initial tier, which is nearly free, you need to start collecting materials. Early-game weapons might require materials such as a Slate-Colored Horn, which are much easier to collect. Once you get further south of Vernworth, though, upgrades will start to get more difficult.

Tier three upgrades on your weapons or armor will call for the most Gold and the most rare materials for that rank. Because you never really know what each tier will require for materials, it’s best to save them all in your bank for later. There is plenty of Gold to earn in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and it’s better to save those monster parts for a better investment like more damage or protection.

To make the most of your travels, access your storage for all those extra materials.
