Resident Evil 4 Remake – How to Unlock the Handcannon
Before getting into the traditional method of obtaining this weapon, there is a fresh method that players can try. The Mercenaries DLC has gone live and can be picked up for free. This DLC is a series of challenges, and if you can manage to get S+ in all of them, the Handcannon is yours to claim. It can be faster than the original method below.
The first step to getting this weapon the traditional way is by completing the game itself. Once you finish a full playthrough, you will unlock more opportunities to complete more challenges or attempt the game on a harder difficulty. You can complete the first playthrough on any difficulty you would like, so that can save you some time before getting to the second or third run.
However, you will need to finish the second playthrough of Resident Evil 4 Remake on Professional difficulty. Not only will this be harder than what you have likely played before, but you must complete the game with an A-Rank as well. You will not be able to use any of the secret or bonus weapons to help you out either.

This means you will need to take on the challenge with the base weapons and you will not be able to just cheese enemies with an infinite rocket launcher. Your best bet is to continue another playthrough if you would like to make sure all of your equipment is at a peak level. When you feel ready, begin the subsequent NG+ on Professional and earn your Handcannon in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
