Since the Minion Prince’s introduction in Clash of Clans’ TH17 update, players have been waiting for a piece of new hero equipment for the Minion Prince. In February 2025’s massive update, we have the Minion Prince’s third equipment, the Metal Pants.
Here’s how to unlock the Metal Pants equipment, and whether it’s worth it.
How to Unlock the Metal Pants in Clash of Clans

The Metal Pants are the Minion Prince’s purely defensive common equipment. It unlocks immediately after the Blacksmith building is upgraded to level three. The Blacksmith level three is only available at Town Hall level ten, so you get the Metal Pants early.
There’s no additional cost when unlocking the Metal Pants, and it is actually a reference to players complaining about why Minion Prince wasn’t wearing any pants when he was introduced in the widely successful Town Hall 17 update in 2024.

Is the Metal Pants Worth Upgrading in Clash of Clans?

Like all other equipment, we have to know if it is worth upgrading. It takes a lot of resources to upgrade equipment, especially for free-to-play players. Getting any equipment to a decent level requires several months of farming Ores and being active in Clan Wars. So, are the Metal Pants worth spending those Ores?
The Metal Pants is purely defensive equipment that creates a barrier or shield around the Minion Prince, temporarily reducing damage taken. The reduction, health recovery, and hitpoint increase make the Minion Prince sturdy enough to survive Seeking Air Mines or even tank Air Defenses and Monoliths. Since these deal high damage, the damage reduction is percentage-based and works wonders here.
While the equipment is decent at best, it must still be “better” than the Dark Orb and Henchmen Puppet to see any use. The Dark Orb is way too strong to give up.
The Henchmen Puppet equipment gives you two Henchmen Puppets. They are like an upgraded version of the Super Minion. They can deal damage and as well as tank a few hits. If the Minion Prince is in trouble, you can tap your ability and summon two Henchmen to redirect the damage. In a way, it is like the Metal Pants, but you are also getting two offensive units.
It works well with Dark Orb because the Henchmen can destroy a few defenses, and the Dark Orb will help them finish those structures off. As for the Metal Pants, it doesn’t have any synergy with the Dark Orb. If the Minion Prince isn’t looking in the right direction to shoot the Dark Orb and is already taking damage, the Metal Pants help him recover better, but that means you are only looking at the value when you are “missing” your Dark Orb.
Overall, save your money, as it doesn’t look like the Metal Pants will see some action. However, some awesome ideas can make the Metal Pants amazing. Things could work out if they could release another piece of equipment that could turn the Minion Prince into a flanker.
