Warhammer 40K: Darktide has some wild weapon types to use. Sure, you have your standard assault rifles, revolvers, swords, and daggers, but you also have a flamethrower and several magic staffs. Speaking of magic staffs, one of the most hyped staffs for the Psyker harkens back to the days of the original Star Wars trilogy. Here’s how to get the Surge Force Staff in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

How to Get the Surge Force Staff in Darktide

The Surge Force Staff in Darktide is unlocked at trust level 10 for the Psyker class exclusively, as expected. Keep in mind, though, that doesn’t mean it will be guaranteed to be in the shop at level 10. Unlock levels in the game merely allow the weapon to appear in shops, but it may be a few shop resets (which happen every hour on the hour) before you can pick the weapon up. With some patience, the weapon will appear for purchase. This also gives you a chance to farm some gold so you aren’t broke when it appears.

The Surge Force Staff lets you embrace your inner Palpatine, letting you harness the power of the Warp to unleash lightning on your opponents. This does some healthy damage over time, though also means your focus when using the staff will be on horde-clearing. Its single-target damage is quite subpar, though being able to hit many enemies any once makes this staff quite strong. As for whether the other three staffs for the Psyker are better, that’ll be down to personal preference.

Regardless, they’re far more exciting than the Psyker’s other ranged options. Think about this, would you want to play the mage characters and shoot at enemies with your gun, or unleash the power of lightning on a horde? We’d be shocked if you picked the first option.
