How to Unlock and Start Defiant Battlegrounds in Destiny 2

If you want to see the full story of the Season of Defiance, you’re going to have to play quite a few Defiance Battlegrounds. But to do that, you’re going to have to jump through a few hoops first.

First, you’ll need to purchase the Lightfall Expansion. Unfortunately, much of Destiny’s story, dungeons, and weapons are locked behind these Expansions. And for Season of Defiance, that big gate is Lightfall.

Once you have Lightfall installed, you’ll need to head to Neomuna on Neptune. Neptune is the latest planet to join the Destiny 2 universe. Once you’ve loaded into Neomuna, you’ll see a giant, scantily dressed person. This is Nimbus, and they’re our vendor for Neptune. Once that’s done, you’ll be able to start the first Lightfall campaign mission.

When you’ve successfully completed this campaign mission, go to THE Farm in the EDZ. The farm has a bright blue icon on the top right of the map.

At the farm, speak to Mara Sov. You’ll have to complete a story version of the Defiance Battleground, but after that, you’ll be able to access it in the H.E.L.M.

There are three different types of Defiance Battlegrounds you can take part in, on both regular and Legend difficulty. These battlegrounds are distinctly harder than in past seasons, so take your time as you learn them and work with your team.

If you find that you’re struggling, Witherhoard is a great weapon to clear out mobs. Here’s how to get it: How to Get Witherhoard in Destiny 2.
