How to Take the Chimera Core in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty

Don't leave the core behind

The Chimera is easily one the most dangerous bosses in all of Cyberpunk 2077 and the Chimera Core serves as a worthy reward for dumping hundreds of bullets in one machine. However, it’s easy to miss the reward and I want to make sure you don’t leave behind the chance for a great crafting item.

How to Get the Chimera Core in Cyberpunk 2077

To take the Chimera Core, look at the ground next to the destroyed machine and actively pick the core up. You won’t find the core on the body of the Chimera, which is how most of the loot in Phantom Liberty or Cyberpunk 2077 works. It took me a few minutes to realize that the reward I was looking for wasn’t on the machine itself.

Taking the Chimera Core is also an optional task while you get Myers to safety, so you can leave the room with no reward. By default, there is also no marker for the core on the ground. You can head into the map and attempt to switch tasks so that the core gets an exclamation point on the mini-map. However, the sub-task markers tend to be more vague.

How to Get the Chimera Core in Cyberpunk 2077:

  • Defeat the Chimera Boss with Myers.
  • Check the body of the Chimera first.
  • Then search the floor around the boss for a Legendary/Iconic item.

Once you pick up the Chimera Core, you can leave the main boss room with full confidence. There aren’t any other major rewards to pick up, so don’t worry about searching every nook and cranny. Most of the room is full of ammo boxes and a few weapon cases to keep you ahead of the curve in Dogtown.

Later on, you can use the Chimera Core in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty to craft some Iconic weapon mods. Simply open up the crafting menu and use your singular core to get a powerful mod that never breaks down.
