One aspect of Baldur’s Gate 3 that was clearly missing after the official release was a true Epilogue, and that has changed with a massive patch from Larian Studios. Now you can get the closure that’s so important to an adventure like this and I’ll point you in the right direction.
How to Start the Epilogue in BG3
To start the Epilogue, you need to update your game and then load any save file that takes place before the battle with the Netherbrain prior to completing the story. If you were hoping to see the Epilogue for your party after you already beat the game, it seems like you’re out of luck. But if you kept all your save files, then you might still have some fortune.
Most players have numerous saves as they journey in Baldur’s Gate 3. Even before I had my final battle with the Netherbrain, I had a dozen saves for the final quest. If you didn’t wipe all your data, you can use one of those saves to get a better ending. You may have to battle the Netherbrain over again, but it will at least lead to an ending with the full Epilogue.
Those of you who haven’t finished the game yet have nothing to worry about. Whether you are in Act 1 or halfway through Act 3, the update will integrate into any of these saves. Simply keep playing the game as you normally would and eventually, you will reach the true ending. Just make sure your game is updated.
An additional change that can help with the Epilogue includes Withers resurrecting any companions that fell in the leadup to the final battle. After all, we want to see what our entire party has to say before going our separate ways.
