How to Start a Seasonal Character in Diablo 4

Dive into that crispy seasonal content.

Diablo 4’s first Season, Season of the Malignant, is now in full swing. A strange plague has descended upon Sanctuary, infecting demons to make them more infested, but also far more powerful. Needless to say, you and Cormund have some work to do to clear out the threat. Before you can start digging into the content though, you’ll need to get a Seasonal character going. Here’s how to create a Seasonal character in Diablo 4.

Creating a Seasonal character is surprisingly simple. First things first, create a character back on the character select screen. If you already have 10 characters for whatever reason, you’ll need to delete one to make another. From there, pick a class and do all your usual customization. You can also choose to skip the Campaign here, should one of your characters have completed the campaign already.

Once you put in your name and press start, you’ll be prompted to pick between starting a Seasonal Character or an Eternal Character. For the purposes of this guide, pick a Seasonal Character, select your World Tier, and you’re off! The game will start as normal, only with you spawning in Kyovashad if you chose to skip the Campaign.

What’s Different About a Seasonal Character Compared to an Eternal Character?

Eternal characters, which are characters you either started before Season 1 or chose to start with Eternal, will exist until the game is no longer playable. Seasonal characters, on the other hand, will be converted to Eternal characters once the Season ends and can access the Season content in turn. You’ll do this with all following seasons, with the cosmetic content you earn carrying over to your other characters along with your Eternal characters.
