How to Make a Campfire on Great Sky Island in Tears of the Kingdom

Roast your food or some arrows.

Even at the start of Tears of the Kingdom, fire becomes an important element for Link as he searches shrines, collects food, or braves the cold weather on the sky island. Considering how many times you’re going to need fire as you explore all of Hyrule, it’s important to know how to start a fire on the fly.

Tears of the Kingdom is all about having different methods to accomplish nearly everything in the game, and the same is true for fire. However, there is a simple way of getting your own campfire started super early into the game, and we’ll outline how so nothing gets in your way.

Tears of the Kingdom – How to Make a Campfire

The easiest way to harness fire for any need in Zelda is to make a campfire. This starts by getting any kind of axe in the game, and the standard ones are stone axes. You will find these early into the sky island and they are required for cutting down trees. Fusing is also possible with a sharp edge and some sticks as handles.

With an axe in hand, cut down any trees in the area until the log falls. Once the log falls, take the axe and cut that same log down into a small bundle of wood. These can be picked up and stored in your inventory for use at any time. Now you only need one more material, and that’s flint.

Starting a Fire in Tears of the Kingdom:

  • Throw down a bundle of wood and some flint.
  • Take out a weapon with metal or stone.
  • Use that weapon to swing at the flint while it’s next to the bundle of wood.
  • The flint will spark and light the wood, causing the campfire to start up.

Fire can come from other fusions and environmental spawns as well. Arrows can even be fused to have fire by default, but creating a simple campfire is the easiest way to give yourself somewhere to skip time or cook some food in Tears of the Kingdom.
