How to Snap to World Grid in Satisfactory

Perfectly aligned!

Satisfactory allows players to build their dream factories and expand them infinitely. Its robust building tools allow for tons of creativity and proper alignment as well. This is where the invisible world grid comes into play, allowing players to ensure all their structures are aligned properly for a smoother flow of materials and expansion. Here is how you can snap to the world grid in Satisfactory and refine your building alignment.

Snap to World Grid in Satisfactory

To snap to the world grid in Satisfactory, hold left Ctrl while building a foundation in the build mode to enable snap mode. This will snap the hologram to the world grid, allowing you to place the foundation piece in proper alignment.

Snapping to the world guild will always perfectly align the foundation to the cardinal directions (North, South, East, and West). This is demonstrated below with a perfect 90° angle drawn above the foundation.

The shortcuts are visible during the build mode UI, and individual functions are highlighted when pressed.

This can serve as your world grid marker, and you can design your factory and structures around it. Another major benefit of this approach to building is that you connect structures that are further away from your main foundation in perfect alignment.

You might have to add a few ramps here and there to accommodate the height difference, but in terms of direction and rotation, all your factories will be perfectly aligned, and connecting them becomes a breeze.

The world grid is consistent throughout the entirety of Satisfactory, and while it can be a little awkward compared to manually placing every foundation structure with the ability to rotate, the structural alignment comes in handy in the long run when your factories have expanded considerably in scale.

With the release of Satisfactory 1.0, a few new network issues have popped up as well. While the improvements are plenty, if you’re running into API troubles with your servers in Satisfactory, you might have to update your ports.
