How to Restore Mood, Energy and Hunger in Dungeon Settlers
Managing your characters outside of combat is also an important part of exploration in Dungeon Settlers
Energy and Hunger are the two main survival stats that dictate how deep you can dive into the dungeon. Mood is another factor that combines multiple factors and can lead to Stress. Today we’re going explain the survival systems in Dungeon Settlers and go over how to manage them.
What is Energy in Dungeon Settlers
Energy is the primary resource used in exploration and casting skills in Dungeon Settlers. It is represented as a Yellow bar under each character. Staying awake, moving around, building, harvesting, combat and using skills all consume Energy. If your Energy levels drop too low, you will be unable to use skills and your character will pass out in the middle of exploration or combat.
How to Restore Energy
The most reliable method to restore energy is to let your characters sleep. While your characters can sleep anywhere, even on the floor, ideally you should bring at least four cloth Bedrolls with you or craft them inside the Dungeon. Find a safe spot to rest at after clearing out nearby enemies. However, note that enemies can still ambush you as you sleep.
You can manually put your units to sleep by selecting them and pressing the Prioritize Sleep button at the bottom left after selecting your character. If you want to make all your characters sleep, press TAB and then press H.

There are certain skills and items that can generate small amounts of Energy, increase your total Energy or improve your Energy restoration, however, sleeping is the most reliable and consistent way to restore Energy.
What is Hunger in Dungeon Settlers
Hunger is another important stat that gradually rises as time passes. If your characters are Hungry for too long, they can starve and even die. Therefore, it’s recommended to find a reliable way to stockpile food as early as possible. Note that you can run out of food even when you’re working on your base in the Barren Lands. Also make sure to check your characters’ preferences, as some characters like Lizardmen do not consume vegetarian foods.
How to Restore Hunger
To restore Hunger, your characters need to eat food. However, food is a scarce resource and if you feed them Raw Meat or Disgusting Monster Meat, they will complain and their Moods will lower. Luckily, you can roast Meat after building a Campfire, even in the Dungeon, making it the best way to quickly restore Hunger in Dungeon Settlers.

Monsters on the second floor and below are harder but drop Raw Meat much more frequently. You are also more likely to find fruits, oats and Turnips on lower floors. Furthermore, you can research Basic Cuisines and Relief Rations to unlock more food recipes and cooking options.
What is Mood and Stress in Dungeon Settlers
Mood is the current emotional state of a character and it directly affects the Stress level of your characters. If your character is in a bad mood, they will quickly accumulate Stress. Once your Stress maxes out, your character will have a Mental Collapse paralysis and reset Stress to zero. However, if it happens again they will instantly die.

How to Improve Mood and Stress
You can check the factors affecting your character’s mood by hovering over the Mood icon on the corner of the character portrait. Hunger, dungeon stay duration, bedding, and various other factors affect your overall Mood. Stress rises or drops depending on your character’s mood being good or bad. To keep a good mood, make sure your characters are well fed, have a good place to sleep, and you deal with any other negative factors that appear on the Mood icon.
