How to Power Up the Furnace in Absolum

I have to do WHAT?

Near the end of your adventure in Grandery in Absolum, just before the Underking boss battle, you’ll have the option to travel to the mines. Right before it is a locked elevator shaft for which you need to power up the furnace within the mines.

Here is how you can locate the furnace and power it up to activate the elevator shaft and make your way deeper into the mines.

Locate the Furnace

To locate the furnace, enter the mines as you make your way to the Underking boss fight.

The furnace itself usually appears in this area, but you might need to visit this node a few times if it doesn’t.

Power Up Furnace

Once you’ve reached the furnace, break open its doors. Careful not to jump in yourself because you’ll lose a bit of HP. The doors are broken permanently and will remain open even in subsequent runs until you’ve powered it up.

To power up the furnace in Absolum, you need to throw or push enemies into its flames. Each enemy you throw increases the intensity of the flames, and the furnace will be fully powered after you’ve thrown in a few.

After it’s fully powered up, you’ll get a prompt, and the machinery connected to it in the background will start working again as well. The meter on the left is active as well and goes up the more enemies you throw into it.

What Does Powering Up the Furnace Do?

Once the furnace is powered up, the elevator shaft will be unlocked at the mine’s entrance. It will be marked on your map as well.

Using the elevator will complete the quest associated with the furnace, and you will gain access to an entirely new area called “The Deep Mines” with plenty of tough foes to take on and loot to grab.

This becomes the third possible area you can visit before taking on the Underking, and if you’re in the late game, I think this is the best route because you generally get better loot. So if you’re wondering if the furnace is worth powering up, it definitely is.
