How to Pet Any Creature in Creatures of Ava

To pet a creature, you need to walk up to it, and a “pet” interaction button will appear. However, if the creature is attacking you when you go near it, it isn’t in the correct state. For you to pet them, they need to be friendly and relaxed. This is why some of the creatures in the villages are naturally friendly, and you can pet them freely. When you go out in the wilds, they’ll most likely be neutral or infected.

To put them in a relaxed state, you need to unlock and use the Flute. Playing the tune or song they want to hear will put them in a relaxed or friendly state. They’ll even follow you around while you play the flute. Once they are friendly, you can walk up to them and pet them freely. So, why do you need to pet creatures?

When you go through your Avapedia and go to the Creatures section, you’ll see all the creatures you have encountered so far. If you check each of the creatures, they’ll have research tasks. Each creature has a “Pet an X” research task, so you need to remember to pet them. Some of these research tasks also contribute to getting skill points.

Creature States in Creatures of Ava, Explained

Creatures have three different states: friendly, wild, and infected. When they are infected, they are in their aggressive state where you need to cleanse them with your Nafitar. Saving them from the infection will instantly turn them into their friendly state.

Creatures in their wild states have different behaviors. When you approach them, they will either run away or attack you. Pulling out the Flute will make them curious, and they’ll sing a specific pattern you should play. Once you play the correct tune of the song, they’ll become friendly. If you go near them, even with your Flute out, they’ll still attack you if that is the creature’s behavior. If their behavior is to run away, they will stay put even if you are near them as long as you are holding the Flute.

When the creature is in its friendly state, it will not attack or run away from you. It will follow you while you are holding the Flute. If you unequip it for some other reason, it will still remain friendly, but it will stay in its place. If you pull out the Flute again, they’ll immediately flock back to you. This information or mechanic is important to learn, especially when you encounter puzzles in the open world.
